Fan Zhongyan (October 1, 989 - June 19, 1052), also known by his courtesy name Xiwen, was a famous politician, writer, military strategist and thinker in the Northern Song Dynasty of China. The famous line in his essay "Yueyang Tower" "Worry about the world before you worry about yourself, and enjoy the world after you enjoy yourself" has become a famous line through the ages and is widely circulated.
"Yueyang Tower" is an essay written by the Northern Song Dynasty writer Fan Zhongyan in the sixth year of Qingli (1046) at the request of his good friend Teng Zijing to rebuild Yueyang Tower.
